Beginner Golfer - Average scores over 100
As you begin to learn the game, you will want to use clubs that are more forgiving for when you make bad shots (you can be sure those bad shots will come). The beginning golfer needs to use clubs that are the most forgiving when the ball isn't struck directly in the center. Golf clubs that have the most of their weight around the edges (Perimeter-weighted) will prevent the club head from turning when the ball is hit improperly.
Irons that have more sole weighting makes it very easy to get the ball in the air. Sole weighting lowers the center of gravity by putting the weight under the ball, helping to get it in the air quicker.
Having a larger club head creates a larger sweet spot. Using a material like titanium allows manufacturers to make larger clubs with same amount of material, therefore keeping total club weight down. A larger sweet spot will be the most forgiving since off-center shots will make you lose distance.
Some golf club heads offer an "offset" design that can prevent your shots from spinning left-to-right and result in the ball going straighter. With this offset, the club face is slightly behind the hostel of the club head providing an extra split second in the swing to get the club face back to the square position.
For your driver, the larger the head the more forgiving it will be. Drivers all have the largest face and therefore producing the largest sweet spot. This is very important, since a beginner doesn't always hit the ball...
